We have a focus on three key areas for the modules that are available to you, as well as a spanning (key) module on Communication in Aged Care. The three categories are:
•Dementia Care
•Recognising, and providing a palliative response to care
•Oral hygiene and links to health and well-being- Introduction to dementia
- Introduction to palliative care
- Perspectives on oral care
- Communication in aged care
It is recommended that you make these modules a priority and complete them before moving to other modules within this package. By engaging with this learning you will be able to:
- demonstrate best practice for these categories
- develop confidence and capacity to make informed decisions to improve care
- build and transfer knowledge to care
- think about your performance and identify areas for improvement
- work through the process of decision making in a timely way
- identify and access resources to further assists with your professional development
Your work context will determine the learning journey you take and we have also provided some additional links to resources that you may find useful. To enable you to capture your learning we have developed a portfolio where you can create an account of not only your learning but also your thoughts and feelings along the journey. Each module equates to 0.5 hours toward Continuous Professional Development (CPD). As CPD is measured in hours you will need to complete two modules to gain 1 hour of CPD.
We have included feedback opportunities throughout the package and encourage you to provide us with your thoughts and ideas to enable improvements to be made.

Portfolio
A portfolio has been included as a useful way to collect your efforts and have them ready to share with others. While the certificates of completion can be used to meet career development requirements they are only the tip of the iceberg. You will learn so much more and your portfolio will be a way to bring this all together.
To help you along the way we have provided a portfolio link next to all activities that you can use to add these to your portfolio. Your portfolio will be unique just like you. So you are in charge.
